Wow, what a hectic week of sport this has been across the various time zones of the world.

I am not just talking about those early morning kick-offs in Japan and Korea.

Sure, I have been following the World Cup, it's impossible not to, but, like most of the compatriots, I have also had some sleepless nights watching the NBA play-offs. As I write, the Lakers are looking good for another title.

I know you love the underdog over here but I have no problem with the Lakers winning again. I am a big Phil Jackson fan and I love dynasties such as the Lakers are creating. Shaquille O'Neal is just a freak of nature and people cannot deal with him.

It has been suggested to me that the Nets are the NBA's version of the Brighton Bears as, inspired by their new point guard, they re-emerge from the doldrums but find themselves unable, as yet, to topple the really big guns.

That's a good comparison. In fact, our own point guard Randy Duck played at college with Jason Kidd, who has been so important for the Nets.

I have been in touch with Randy recently. His Oklahoma Storm side have won three in a row but his minutes have been cut.

Randy's team mate Sterling Davis has been in great form. I had a nice conversation with him about returning and this is where he wants to be.

He has been spoken to by teams in a couple of other countries, most notably Japan. I'm in the 70 percent-plus category when it comes to my belief as to whether he will be wearing our blue and white next season.

I see my comments about Wil Johnson provoked some discussion on the internet. I am in contact with Wil and in the last few days we have made another huge step towards him returning.

The latest development in the BBL has been the departure of coach Lance Randall from Birmingham Bullets. He has been replaced by Tony Garbelotto from Newcastle, which did not surprise me too much.

I have coached at Birmingham and it is a very good job to have. In terms of resources and potential it is possibly the biggest in the league. Craig Bown, the owner there, is a wealthy individual and the club have also secured a big grant recently.

Bown is aggressive in pursuing success and looking to compete in Europe. He's a tough task master and shrewd businessman. There is loads of potential there but you have to be strong to survive.

Coming back to Brighton, we will be looking to maximise our own potential in games we stage at the Triangle. We turned the Burgess Hill venue into quite a fortress last year and we have now arrangements to increase capacity.

We will be turning the court around 90 degrees and putting the bleachers in front of the balcony to bring the whole crowd together.

On the opposite side we will look to set up facilities for corporate hospitality, similar to how we do things at the Brighton Centre. Eventually I would look to install more bleachers on that side too, but I think we are a way off having to do that to satisfy demand at the moment.

It all depends of course on how we market these games and the response we get from the public next season. I am delighted to see your feedback at brightonbears.com Next week I will give you an exciting date for your diaries as we really look to get things moving again.

Until then, GO BEARS (and USA).

Nick Nurse is head coach and general manager of the Brighton Bears.
