I have been reading about keeping the breast cancer unit in Brighton campaign as I have a relative currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer at the Royal Sussex hospital.
Although the level of care provided by the cancer unit is extremely high, it is jeopardised by the unavailability of beds for women needing breast cancer operations.
Recently, operations were cancelled due to lack of beds in the Royal Sussex County.
It has taken a telephone call to MP Ivor Caplin to now get a postponed operation brought forward to June 24.
It is all very well increasing the speed of screening and diagnosis but this must go hand in hand with no delay in providing a bed when an operation is urgently needed.
