The people of Woodingdean have run their open-air pool for more than 20 years with little outside help.
They hold fund-raising events every year, ranging from jumble sales to a carnival to make sure the pool can open each summer as a local attraction, mainly for children.
Now there is a real danger children will be disappointed this summer because no qualified lifeguards are available.
At least two are needed to be on duty at any one time to make sure the youngsters are safe.
Surely someone in or near Woodingdean can be persuaded to help out.
After all the effort raising cash to keep the pool open it would be a shame if it closed because no one could help care for the kids.
