Crowhurst Park have lost the leadership in division one after suffering a surprise first defeat of the season at Chiddingly.
Park fielded first and had their hosts 80-5 after Paul Brooks (3-39) had made inroads with the new ball. But poor fielding and a succession of dropped catches allowed Chiddingly to recover to 171 as G. Sutherland (51) and A. Samuel (23) put on 60 for the sixth wicket. Victor Walcott took 3-17 at the end but his side were soon struggling in reply as Sutherland took 5-31 with his left-arm spin to reduce them to 97-7. Brookes made 52 and Rob Bliss 22 but Crowhurst were bowled out for 141 and lost by 30 runs.
Fletching are the new leaders after a six wicket win over Newick in a low-scoring contest on a pitch which gave the seamers plenty of assistance.
Grant Horscroft (5-13) and Glenn Potter (4-26) helped bowl out Newick for 56 in 41.4 overs. Although Dave Hutchinson took three early wickets in Fletching's reply, Terry Lucas (21*) and Matthew Hoadley (11*) steered their side to victory.
Ringmer closed the gap on the top two although they were held to a draw on a damp pitch at Wadhurst. Dave Smith and Murray Barnett both made 57 as the visitors, who were put in, scored 189-5 from 52 overs.
Wadhurst finished on 121-9 and hung on for a draw thanks to a last wicket stand spanning 12 overs between A.Dean (32*) and T.Jeffrey (33*).
