A train network has been praised for slashing the cost of a rail season ticket.
Conservative MP Nigel Waterson has tabled an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons congratulating South Central Trains for reducing fares on the lines from Lewes to Eastbourne and Seaford.
The Eastbourne to Lewes price has been cut from £23.20 to £15 a week and the Seaford to Lewes price from £15 to £10.
The Eastbourne MP said: "This provides a real alternative for many travellers in the area.
"The wider applications and potential of this scheme should be considered both by the Department of Transport and the South-Coast Multi-Modal Study."
Train companies, including South Central, were criticised by commuters earlier this month following a decision to stop passengers using Network Railcards for journeys costing less than £10.
At the same time the £10 West End Saver ticket was withdrawn and replaced with a £12.50 Price Buster ticket.
Mr Waterson welcomed the imminent official opening of the Polegate Bypass and the A22 new route into Eastbourne.
However, he said there was still more to do to improve transport links in East Sussex.
He wants the Multi-Modal Study to recommend major improvements to the A27 between Lewes and Polegate on safety, environmental and economic grounds.
Mr Waterson added: "Such improvements would benefit the whole area and in particular people and businesses in Eastbourne, by creating an integrated transport system."
