The other day, a juggernaut failed to stop at a pedestrian crossing when the lights had changed to red quite simply because it was travelling too fast. In other words, it was unable to stop in the given distance. It nearly ran me over. I would have been just another statistic - a dead one. Speed kills. It is as simple as that. Bigger fines and jail sentences are the only deterrent.
