Two bricklaying brothers celebrated a multi-million pound Lotto win as a nation mourned its World Cup exit.
David Funnell, 38, and brother Mark, 32, were arguably the only people in England happily sipping champagne yesterday.
The brothers, both England fans, immediately drew up a vast wish list with the £3,614,444 they won in Wednesday's draw.
Top of their list was a long holiday, although both jokingly vowed not to set foot in Brazil following England's 2-1 defeat at their hands.
Next was a boat, new house and some luxury cars, including an Aston Martin to replace their Transit van and Rover 214.
Divorced David and bachelor Mark plan to give up full-time work as soon as the win has sunk in.
They won the sum with the same six numbers they have used since the start of the Lotto draw in the mid-Nineties.
Both admitted to still being on Cloud Nine two days after their numbers came up as they celebrated at Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne.
David was at home with step-daughter Jasmine, 12, when he asked his Welsh-born partner Gaynor, 40, if she had checked the numbers.
They flicked on Teletext before David scanned his finger across the screen to find all the numbers had come up.
Sailing enthusiast David, from Upper Dicker, near Hailsham, said: "For a split second I just couldn't believe it. After that, I felt euphoria.
"At first I saw three numbers and I shouted we had won a tenner, the next second I saw another three numbers appear.
"I jumped up straight away to find my ticket to double check.
"Then I worried in case there was something wrong with the ticket. I thought maybe it wasn't valid. I went to look for it but couldn't find it at first and I panicked.
"Once I found my ticket, I passed it to Gaynor, who then passed it to Jasmine to check we weren't going mad.
"I put the ticket on my bedside table. I didn't get much sleep that night. Every time I opened my eyes, it was there.
"I kept having to remind myself it was real.
Straight after he checked the numbers, David phoned his brother Mark at his £40,000 studio flat.
Mark, from Willingdon, Eastbourne, said: "The phone was going mad all night as people found out about the win."
The balding brothers, who attended Uckfield Community College, jokingly said they planned to have surgery to restore their hair.
David said: "I've always dreamed of having a hair transplant and looking like one of the Bee Gees."
