Hastings notched up their seventh win of the season and lead the Shepherd Neame Sussex Premier League by 38 points.

Their latest victims were bottom club Haywards Heath, who were trounced by 155 runs.

Hastings took advantage of dropped catches to make 231-8. Brad Smith (50 not out) steadied the ship after George Campbell (46) had provided his now familiar positive start.

Paul Edmunds took 5-92 in 23 overs. It was his first game for over a year after a back injury.

Heath then tumbled to 22-6 and 76 all out as John Morgan took 5-19.

Three Bridges rattled up 250-8 declared against Horsham with James Chadburn making 47 and Cameron Mirza 54. Mark Nash (5-66) was the best Horsham bowler.

The visitors tumbled to 171 all out as Conrad Mumby took 5-66 and Adrian Chappell 3-34.

Eastbourne were without skipper Paul Stevens against St James but brother Darren led the side to a narrow eight- run victory.

Darren Cumming made 73, Roger Myall 31 and Darren Stevens 26 in an Eastbourne total of 213-9 declared. Mark Johnson took 4-83 and Mike Harrison 3-41.

Harrison gave Eastbourne a fright when he cracked 56 from 37 balls but St James totalled 205 and lost by eight runs.

Worthing had their second win of the season when they defeated Chichester by five wickets at Priory Park.

In a Chichester total of 135 all out, Andy Bennett made 53 as Chris Mansell took 4-49 and Danny Barton 2-30.

Dave Marshallsay then struck 62 not out and Jamie Forbes made 40 as Worthing reached 136-5.

Steyning held on for a draw at Brighton and Hove after the home side had declared on 245-4, thanks to 127 not out from Ray Beiber.

Gary Hunt made 71 and skipper David Mates 44 not out in a Steyning reply of 210-8. Greg Guilford took 4-54.

East Grinstead lead division two by 12 points after a tense draw at Stirlands.

The home side finished two short of victory with three wickets standing.

Alan Tait (107) hit his first league century in in a Grinstead total of 203-8 declared.

Stirlands reached 202-7 at stumps with 54 from Richard Thelwell. Steve Greig took 4 -69.

Cuckfield made 198-9 declared at Roffey but it should have been more after Jon Goodwin (54) and Andy Middleton (37) gave them a good start.

Graham West then hit 91 not out, Mick Webb made 37 and Simon Shivnarain 24 not out as Roffey reached victory target at 200-3.

Aussie skipper Sam Roberts led Bexhill to an 82-run win at home to Preston Nomads who beat them in the Cup two weeks ago.

Roberts hit 87 and Matthew Blackman made 37 as Bexhill reached 193-8 declared. Ian Jones took 3-70 and Imran Khan 4-60.

Nomads tumbled to 109 all out despite a lusty 32 from skipper Michael Strong. Roberts took 4 -20.

Bottom club Sidley enjoyed their first win of the season at the expense of Littlehampton after making 205-7 declared. Peter King hit 42, Scott Woodroffe 48 and Jonathan Haffenden 33, Stuart Stoneham took 3-46.

The visitors them slumoped to 131 all out as Dan Reed took 5-25.
