Julie Pullin believes this could be the year she finally ends her Wimbledon hoodoo.
The Sussex girl has not won a match in seven previous attempts, but that could change against fellow left-hander Maja Matevzic from Slovenia.
Pullin is approaching the match in a confident frame of mind, despite losing in qualifying at Eastbourne.
The previous week in Birmingham she defeated Spanish world No. 40 Magui Serna, ranked 17 places higher than Matevzic.
"I know I haven't won a Wimbledon singles and I want to change that, but I have just been trying to have a better grass court season all round," Pullin said.
"It's not a big deal, but I suppose if there is going to be a year then this is it.
"I haven't played her before. She has a pretty good all-round game, but it is certainly a draw you would take."
Matevzic came through qualifying on her Wimbledon debut last year before losing in the first round on court one 8-6 in the third set against the seeded Barbara Schett.
