Poi Poi have been used by Maori women to help with their weaving and by warriors to increase their strength in battle.

Now a Brighton firm has bought a stock of Poi Poi in the hope it will become the latest craze to sweep the nation.

The devices, like tennis balls on the end of a string, are twirled in a figure of eight.

They should appeal to all ages and both sexes when played properly; a case of Poi Poi meets twirl.
