Chiddingly's revival continued with a six-wicket win at Ditchling.

Last year Chiddingly finished third in division one but won just one of their first five games this summer.

However, they followed victory over reigning champions Crowhurst Park with a 29-point haul at Ditchling on Saturday.

All-rounder Darren Howard said: "We have picked up a few players and have a bit more of a settled side now.

"We are now looking to get back up to the top.

"Our South African Zuben Bhettay has made a big difference. He is getting to know the players and the pitches and he is picking up wickets."

Bhettay, who also bats at No. 3, hit 47 as Chiddingly overhauled Ditchling's total of 190-9 to win by four wickets. Charlie Wycherley top-scored with 63.

Earlier, Mark Hilfiker hit 33 for Ditchling whose total was boosted by a knock of 22 from No. 11 Malcolm Frodsham. Howard was the pick of the Chiddingly bowlers with 4-50.

Fletching extended their lead at the top with an eight-wicket win at Wadhurst in a match which featured two big centuries.

Having been asked to bat, Wadhurst amassed 226-9, thanks mainly to a knock of 136 from Michael Scott, playing his first game since returning from university. Ali Horscroft was the pick of the bowling with 3-53.

That score was surpassed in reply as David Meacher hit his maiden century for Fletching, scoring 138 with a mixture of composed driving and savage pulling. Meacher put on more than 150 for the first wicket with Mark Horscroft (64) and fell two overs from the end with victory all but secured.

Ringmer moved up to second after a thrilling two-wicket triumph at Heathfield Park. The hosts made 195-7, thanks mainly to a first wicket stand of 114 between Ian Cox (71) and Steve Oakes (68).

Richard Thomas (64) and Glyn Crees (48) batted steadily in reply but Ringmer went into the last over needing 14 to win with just two wickets in hand.

Graham Bannatyne (14 not out) took a single from the first ball to put Andy Smith on strike and facing his first ball. Smith straight drove the next two balls for huge sixes to leave the scores tied before taking a single from the next delivery to claim victory.

Crowhurst Park's run stretched to one win in four as they were held to a draw by Glynde. Victor Walcott (71 not out) and skipper Paul Brookes (67) helped Park post a total of 234-7.

When the dangerous Adam McBrown (42) was dismissed with the score on 100-5, Park must have sensed victory.

But Dominic Shepheard (93 not out) and Stuart Mouland (51 not out) punished the bowlers with an unbeaten stand of 128 which left Glynde just short of victory on 228-5 at the close.

Newick were held by draw specialists DPB. Ed Young (77) and Chris Murphy (61) helped Newick to 232-6, Peter Ray taking 5-46. In reply, DPB batted out a draw at 190-7 with contributions from Greg Osborne (38), Terry Penfold (37) and Jez James (37).
