The Canon Digital IXUS v2 is a sophisticated camera and has oodles of high technology and stainless steel chic.
It fits into a shirt pocket with ease.
It has a movie mode for video clips of up to 30 seconds and a photo effects mode that lets users see their pictures either in colour or classic black and white.
The camera incorporates an intelligent orientation sensor, which detects and rotates the images for viewing on the LCD monitor or downloading to a computer.
The Digital IXUS v2 combines a 2.0M pixel CCD and 2x optical zoom lens (35 to 70mm, 35mm equivalent)
with Canon's advanced three-point AiAF focusing and exposure control to deliver clear, sharp images in all conditions.
The software supplied is more than adequate for most users. It includes a number of Canon-specific packages that allow the user to manipulate images, stitch them together to make wide landscapes and clean them up for printing.
Image download is easy using the software supplied or the user can drop the compact flash card into a flash card reader (available at almost every camera store) and treat it as another computer drive.
The camera is small, lightweight and tough as old boots.
