Mark Robinson celebrated his return to the Sussex attack by taking two wickets against his former county at Arundel today.
Robinson, who was drafted in to replace James Kirtley, removed Anthony McGrath and Michael Lumb in his sixth over as the champions, who had won the toss, were reduced to 41-4.
McGrath was caught at second slip via a deflection off the gloves of wicketkeeper Matt Prior.
Then Lumb, who had already survived two lbw appeals, fell leg before without playing a shot.
Sussex had made the break through in the seventh over when Craig White pushed outside off stump at a ball from Billy Taylor and Murray Goodwin took a low catch to his right at gully.
Taylor was replaced at the Park End in the 15th over by Robin Martin-Jenkins and the Sussex all-rounder soon had his first wicket of the contest.
Michael Yardy was again the catcher, holding on to a thick edge, low to his left at second slip at the second attempt.
Sussex were given a boost when skipper Chris Adams declared himself fit after five weeks out with a knee injury.
But struggling Yorkshire, who were already without three players on England duty, lost Chris Silverwood (ankle) and Steve Kirby (back) from their pace attack.
