Worthing fire crews were called to three blazes in an hour this morning when arsonists went on a fire spree.

The first was a van fire at 12.45am in Ivy Arch Road, Worthing.

When fire crews arrived they found a van well alight and petrol seeping into the street from a split fuel tank.

About 30 minutes later a second crew was called to a car fire just 300 yards away in Broadwater Road.

While they were dealing with the blaze, a rubbish skip was set alight in the same road.

A brigade spokesman said: "There is a chance somebody is doing this deliberately.

"We would warn them to stop because it could develop into something dangerous and could cost somebody their life."
