A series of farmers markets are being held to help rejuvenate Seaford town centre.
The four markets have been organised by the Seaford Community Partnership, with the help of a grant from the Social, Economic and Environmental Development (Seed) programme.
The first market was held last week and more are planned for July 18, August 15 and September 19.
The aim is to help the town centre by providing an outlet for local producers to deal directly with local people.
It is hoped the scheme will eventually lead to a regular market.
They are planned to complement rather than compete with other markets in East Sussex.
The Seed grant will be used to buy signs, education and promotion materials.
It will also provide a part-time temporary worker to help with the organisation of the markets.
Up to 20 farmers and more than 200 residents are expected to take part in each event.
The Seed programme distributes National Lottery money on behalf of the New Opportunities Fund.
