I can reveal the mystery of the face in the light circles (The Argus, June 24).
It is an imprint from the opposite page of a crowd of people (The Argus, June 19). By folding the pages, you can see where it creates the mirror image.
The mysterious lights can be explained as reflections from a window, either from a house or a passing vehicle.
There was a lorry parallel to the lights and their position indicated to me there were corresponding windows or reflective metal panels on the lorry.
My reasoning for this is that the reflection of the sun from a window will never be perfect - the window will be either slightly convex or concave.
The truck may have been in the right position at just the right time of day to throw one reflection from the cab window and another from the shiny metal wheel hub.
You can knock up a quick experiment with a plastic mirror on a sunny day - most handbags or vanity cases have them - or a piece of tinfoil flattened on to some card.
By reflecting the sun on to a piece of paper and gently pushing the back of the mirror, you can create different patterns as the light's reflection is distorted.
To trace the source of the lights in the garden next time it happens, try holding up a stick in the light to see from which direction it is shining.
You could also wear strong sunglasses and stand in the light to see where it is originating. Be careful, though, because the sun is being focused on that spot and could hurt your eyes.
