The loss of 1,000 jobs because of the closure of the Massey Ferguson tractor plant in Coventry has been attributed to competition from cheap foreign imports.
The farmers who chose to buy these imported tractors apparently ignored their own vociferous pleas that, in order to safeguard their livelihoods, we should all shun cheap food imports and buy only British.
