A mother struggled with a man who grabbed her by the hair and threatened to hurt her baby.
The young woman was pushing the baby in a buggy near the lake in Tilgate Park, Crawley, when she was approached from behind by the man, who grabbed her hair.
The man made threats to harm the baby and then ran off.
He said it was not known why the man made the threats and he did not attempt to rob his victim.
The woman was left shocked but unharmed.
The man was 5ft 8in, medium build with short brown hair and was wearing a T-shirt and jeans.
He had a gruff voice and spoke in a Northern accent.
PC Penny Furtado would like to trace an elderly couple who were walking in front of the woman when the assault happened between 9am and 9.30am on June 26.
