I went to what I thought was a remarkable open meeting last Friday evening at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill.
The hall was full, containing nearly 300 people, and the meeting lasted about an hour-and-a-half.
What was remarkable in this age of apathy was that, with no election pending, this was a political meeting at which one of our local MEPs, Nigel Farage, reported with great gusto and humour on his three years as an MEP in Brussels.
The second speaker was Tony Stone, a last-minute stand-in, who spoke very professionally on the difficulties and the minutiae to be considered in organising a referendum on the euro. He has written a book on how the Government cannot win a referendum.
All in all, a very interesting meeting, put on, apparently, by the UK Independence Party.
