The leader of the Tories on the city council today promised to tackle persistent problems which plague the seafront.
Councillor Brian Oxley says he will make issues affecting Brighton and Hove's seafront a priority if the Conservatives win control of the city council at next year's local elections.
He said: "People often cite travellers' vans, untaxed and abandoned vehicles and lorries being used as advertising platforms as typical abuse of the seafront amenities.
"Many people feel they bought property at premium prices because of the sea views that came with their house or flat. They did not expect these sorts of problems.
"A Conservative council will tackle those problems, will not neglect seafront assets and will examine ways in which we can creatively use the powers we would have to tackle seafront advertising."
