It seems millions of people in India and Pakistan and even in this country think the use of nuclear weapons is just a local issue.
Most have no concept of the enormity of the destruction, the effects of radiation and the very long-term ecological damage that may be caused by the use of nuclear weapons.
Tens of thousands, if not millions, of lives are at risk. It is very important we understand this and consider what can be done about it.
A meeting on the threat of nuclear war and the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan has been jointly organised by three Sussex peace groups, Mid-Sussex Global Peace Campaign, Sussex Action for Peace and Sussex Peace Alliance.
The speaker is Sam Akaki of CND and the meeting will take place in the Brunswick Room, in the Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton, at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 16.
Further information can be obtained from Brighton Peace Centre in Sydney Street, Brighton. Call 01273 692880.
