In response to Letters extra of July 3, given the acknowledged housing crisis in Brighton, Hove and Portslade (now known as Brighton and Hove city), I find the concept of the Government requiring a detailed consultation on the future of council housing bizarre.
It is clear cut, even to the most casual observer, that we desperately and urgently need more council housing rather than play academic games with existing council tenants.
As someone who was directly involved in the campaign against the trickle transfer of council housing in Hove and Portslade and ensured the termination of that ludicrous policy, I will fully support Brighton and Hove council tenants' Defend Council Housing campaign, which aims to keep and enhance the quality of council housing.
-Coun Steve Collier, South Portslade ward councillor
