The Dolphin Leisure Centre has reopened for business after it was partially closed for ten days as part of a £2.3 million refit.
The main reception and catering facilities at the centre in Haywards Heath have been relocated to the ground floor.
The area includes the new Cafe Zest, which offers a range of refreshments.
Councillor Mike Gilks, Mid Sussex District Council Cabinet member for leisure and property, said: "I am thrilled to see this stage of the Dolphin's redevelopment programme completed.
"Customers have been very understanding of any disruption the work has caused and I think everyone will agree it has been well worth the wait.
"The completion of the new reception area provides a vastly superior level of access to the Dolphin, particularly for young families and disabled customers.
"No longer will people have to battle with the stairs to enter the centre and everyone can enjoy a much more pleasant environment."
A moveable boom has also been installed in the centre's 33m pool so it can be converted to 25m for competitions.
Coun Gilks said: "The moveable boom will really benefit those who train or take part in competitive swimming events."
Other works at the site include the creation a new gym, a leisure and fitness shop, improved creche facilities and a new conference and meeting room.
The refurbishment is due to be completed before the end of the year.
