Teenagers were rounded up in a police crackdown on under-age drinking in Seaford and Peacehaven where there have been spates of vandalism.

In Seaford, nine youths of about 15 were found drunk in Homefield Place and Crouch Gardens and taken home to their parents.

In Peacehaven, alcohol was confiscated from two teenagers in Epinay Park.

Neighbourhood policing team inspector Mark Huff said: "Officers will continue to target areas where under-age drinking and anti-social behaviour are on the increase.

"We will deal both firmly and robustly with the offenders.

"Where criminal offences occur, arrests will be made.

"We will continue to notify parents of their children's behaviour and will look to instigate anti-social behaviour orders where advice and warnings are not heeded."

Police warned staff at off-licences to be tough on checking proof of age.

Inspector Huff urged parents to check where their children were going and what they got up to.

He said: "Parents of all under-age youths who are stopped for possessing alcohol or for causing a nuisance can expect to be visited at home by officers and receive a warning letter.

In the same area, six people, including three teenagers, were arrested in a series of drug raids.

Police officers discovered what was believed to be crack cocaine and cannabis from the addresses in Steyning Avenue and Central Avenue, Peacehaven.

Officers searched another house in Forward Close, Newhaven.

A 16-year-old girl was released with no further action to be taken against her while a 19-year-old man and woman were released on bail while substance test results are produced.

Two other men were released on bail and a 26-year-old man received a caution.
