A century from Lee Poulton helped Alfriston to consolidate second place in division one of the Cuckmere Valley League.

Poulton struck 108 as Alfriston made 208-6 away to East Dean, Ali Batchelor adding 24.

Tim Guest and Jason Woodford both hit 22 in reply but the hosts were restricted to 110-8 from their 40 overs with Batchelor taking 3-22 and Paul Wilson 3-30.

Bells Yew Green consolidated top spot after beating Laughton by six wickets. Lee Gilman hit 32 for Laughton but his side were bowled out for 122 with Chris Fox taking 3-44. Stuart Porter (31) and Dave Tapp (27 not out) then guided the home side to victory.

Blackboys are clear in third place after a 62-run success at home to Withyham. Gary Funnell played a captain's innings with 72 in Blackboys' 167-7. Matthew Bradford chipped in with 36 as Phil Adams and Charlie Walters took three wickets apiece. Matthew Johnston hit 39 in reply but the visitors were bowled out for 105 as Chris Turner claimed 3-28.

Division two: Burwash Weald v Bells Yew Green II rained off; Firle II v Caburn rained off; Nutley 92-2 beat Ridgewood 87; Preston Village 162-7 (Andrew Meredith-Jones 41, Matt Drury 4-15) lost to Denton 163-5 (David Ellis 77no).

Balcombe are the new leaders of Mid Sussex League division one after a crushing nine-wicket over Hurstpierpoint, who could only muster a meagre 90 total to defend.

Matt Parsons (23) top scored for Hurst as the Balcombe attack was led by Gary Paddon's 5-22 as Paul Elliot (2-21) offered fine support. Balcombe lost an early wicket but had no trouble reaching their target as Ian Anthony hit 47 not out.
