Two more elderly women needed hospital treatment for broken bones after being targeted by bag snatchers.

One received a fractured hip and the other a broken ankle.

The latest attack happened at 3pm on Saturday when an 88-year-old woman was knocked to the ground outside Hereford Court flats in Hereford Street, Brighton.

She was taken to the Royal Sussex Hospital, Brighton, where she was found to have a broken hip.

She lost her black bag with suede trim containing credit cards and a small amount of cash.

The attacker was in his 30s, bald and wore sunglasses and a denim jacket.

An 82-year-old woman's ankle was broken when she was knocked over by a man who fled with her bag in Selsfield Drive, Brighton, last Tuesday.

The robber, who ran towards Lewes Road, wore a blue baseball cap and khaki anorak.

Last month, a 91-year-old had skin torn from her hand when a robber ripped a bag from her grasp in Clarendon Road, Hove.

Police think this may be the same robber who mugged 92-year-old Millie Kershaw in Hamilton Road, Brighton, in May when her hip and wrist were broken. Police have offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of the culprit.

Witnesses can contact Brighton and Hove CID on 0845 6070999.
