The picture of Moulsecoomb Place in The Argus Weekend (July 6) brought back memories of my school days.
The building was used as an overspill while a new school was built. I should mention it was shared with the Parks Department.
We had all heard it was supposed to be haunted and wondered if we would see a ghost.
One day, I was sent on an errand by a teacher and, as I turned into a darkened corridor, saw a figure at the far end.
My heart missed a beat until I saw it was my reflection in a full-length mirror.
I had just got over the shock when the mirror slowly opened - it was fixed on a door - and a member of the Parks Department stepped out.
There was a pond in the grounds with an island which could be reached by a small bridge.
That winter, the water froze and we had a fine old time whizzing around on the ice but the next day, to our disappointment, it was all smashed up, obviously to prevent an accident.
