More than 130 hospital beds are being occupied across an East Sussex NHS trust by people well enough to be discharged.
Eastbourne's Tory MP Nigel Waterson revealed the latest figure in a keynote Commons speech on the care home sector.
He told MPs 131 blocked beds across East Sussex Hospitals NHS trust was an "enormous number" that needed attention.
He said: "This is a relatively recent phenomenon, presided over by this Government."
