Hundreds of children are giving up something special to show how important a closure-threatened school is to them.
Pupils at Three Bridges First and Middle Schools in Crawley are taking part in the sponsored sacrifice as part of a campaign to stop the First School closing.
Children from the first school would move to the middle school site which will become an all-through primary.
Mum Lynn Lowe said: "Parents believe the county council is sacrificing their children's education for the sake of profit."
Parents, teachers and governors in the Save Three Bridges Campaign fear their children's education will go downhill and the merger will lead to four years of instability and classroom disruption.
Campaigner Maria Leonard said: "The county council is sacrificing future generations for a quick return on the sale of land today.
"It is sacrificing our playing fields, our children's safety, and educational standards. It is sacrificing our hopes for our children's futures."
Children are sacrificing skipping, playing football, eating crisps and watching TV. Parents are giving up drinking coffee, eating chocolate, watching EastEnders and using the car.
All funds raised go to the Save Three Bridges campaign. The sponsored sacrifice runs for the rest of the week.
