There were no floods of crocodile tears and no endless thank yous to agents but, for eight Sussex children, it may as well have been the real thing.
The prestigious OSCAs ceremony put some of the county's real stars into the publicity spotlight.
The children and teenagers have quietly battled against all the odds to overcome illness and use their lives in a positive way.
For one night these youngsters were given the recognition and praise which their courage and determination so richly deserve.
The smiles of pride on their faces when they were presented with the awards spoke volumes.
And their inspirational stories hold a lesson for us all.
