Captain Chris Adams believes one of the Sussex batsmen will have to score a century if the county are to upset the odds and reach the semi-finals of the C&G Trophy.
Sussex face star-studded Surrey at Hove on Wednesday (10.45am) desperate to reach the last four after defeat in three successive one-day quarter-finals.
Adams said: "Surrey are a quality side, you only have to look at the strength in depth they have when their England players are away to see that. They are the favourites to win the competition and deservedly so.
"I think for us to win one of our top five batsmen has to get a century. We've got a great chance if that happens.
"If we don't bat well we can't expect to win because Surrey have massive depth and they will chase down most totals."
Will House is expected to open the innings after his promotion up the order for the last two National League games and Adams believes it is a great opportunity for the former Kent man to secure his long-term future with the county.
He added: "Will has played a lot of one-day cricket for us, but probably hasn't fulfilled his role in the middle order.
"He's batted well opening the innings for the seconds so this is a chance for him to show us what he's about."
Admission to Wednesday's game is available on the day but the club are advising people to buy tickets from the club offices in advance. More than 1,000 have already been sold.
