On Saturday evening, I was travelling back from Worthing on the seafront road.

When I reached Southwick at about 11.30, I began to encounter groups of people, all walking westwards.

As I reached Portslade and Hove, they increased in number and I realised they were from Fatboy Slim's concert.

They were a mixture of teenagers and young people, some pushing prams and all well behaved.

When I slowed to let them cross in front of me, I received cheery waves.

This continued up Grand Avenue, where the same scenes were repeated, along Church Road and as I travelled northwards.

I entered the A23 at Withdean, which was busy, but always is on Saturday night.

My thoughts were how lovely for people to be able to go out to be entertained on what was a beautiful evening.

I was surprised to see and hear the somewhat negative reports in the Sunday papers and on the radio.

Fatboy Slim's company was organising the inevitable clear-up needed after such an influx of people at no cost to Brighton and Hove City Council.

Given the publicity this event had received beforehand, the expected 60,000 was obviously a gross underestimate and no doubt this is a lesson learned.

It would be a great shame if the foolish actions of a few people were to spoil the future of this event.

Ironically, I had travelled to Worthing that evening to attend a big band ballroom dance, something not provided in Brighton or Hove.

We residents who like "classy dancing to classy music" could certainly do with a Norman Cook to fight our corner in this city, which seems not to cater for anyone over 35.
