Brighton and Hove has had its "wake-up call" to being a city, an exciting place where people want to come to enjoy themselves.

What a good-natured crowd we experienced and most of them were young people who were not drunk.

At 10pm, people were leaving the seafront whereas, on the Continent the night would just be starting.

We must realise the city is poised to become the major seaside resort and events venue in the UK.

As regards traffic, I suggest consideration be given to closing the coast road A259 from Black Rock to the Hove Lagoon on such special events and using the closed road for parking, similar to Mill Hill for football fans.

If I recall, there is only one petrol service station involved and that is at the King Alfred.

To overcome this minor problem, access to this could be provided by using St Aubyn's or Seafield Road, Hove.

All other businesses would be able to operate. Further parking could be provided by using parks for park-and-ride schemes. Please, don't say "Never again".
