There were smiles all round when Princess Alexandra visited a Sussex school.
She unveiled two plaques at Chailey Heritage School in Haywards Heath Road, Lewes, for children with disabilities.
One commemorated the support of the late Queen Mother, who was the school's patron from 1936-2002, and the other marked her own visit.
The Princess met pupils and teachers and was presented with a posy by Tyler Russell, four.
Pupil Amy Saunders, 17, said: "She was wonderful. She asked my name and we compared nail varnish."
The Princess inspected new computer equipment which helps the children to be independent.
Jane Roberts, one of the school's trustees, said: "Few children can talk so the computers help them communicate.
Her Royal Highness then visited the Bluebell Railway at Sheffield Park station, near Uckfield.
