A skeleton found in Chichester harbour is thought to be that of a sailor who died in a shipwreck 200 years ago.
A man collecting cockles alerted police to the skeletal remains on Wednesday.
Police spokesman David Ward said initial inquiries suggested the remains were 200 years old and the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
