Two bodies were today found at the foot of the cliffs at Beachy Head in what police believe may have been a double suicide.
A member of the public spotted the bodies near the lighthouse at the foot of the notorious suicide spot near Eastbourne.
The Sussex Police helicopter was sent to the scene to locate the two bodies while Dover Coastguard sent a cliff rescue team to recover them.
A police spokeswoman said: "Two bodies have been found but as yet we do not know the circumstances of how they came to be where they are.
"A coroner will be called and the bodies recovered."
She said it was thought the deaths may have been a double suicide.
