A council is to withdraw trade waste facilities at two of its rubbish stations in West Sussex to ensure the household dustbin service is not disrupted.
The move follows growing fears about the workload at West Sussex County Council-run waste transfer stations at East Grinstead and Sompting near Worthing.
A new policy from September 2 means both sites will only take garden waste from commercial firms with a ten-tonne vehicle limit being imposed at East Grinstead.
A council spokesman said: "The changes are being made to ensure the county council can meet its legal obligation to deal with household waste."
The authority also says the decision will ease congestion for bin trucks which deliver rubbish to the sites, collected from thousands of homes in the county.
Collected rubbish is taken to the centres to be transferred either for recycling or to be buried in landfill tips.
Leaflets advising traders about the changes will be handed out at the rubbish stations over the next few weeks.
