The Brighton Youth Orchestra - or rather, its string and wind ensembles - was in celebratory mood at its weekend concert.
And quite right, too. Just back from a short tour of Cornwall, it had also won a highly commended award at the Music For Youth Festival in London.
I don't know what the respective conductors, Andy Sherwood and Dominic Nunns, do to the youngsters in their charge but they certainly give them great technique and maturity.
Sunday's programme was made up of great yet challenging pieces and these youngsters came up trumps every time.
The Brighton Youth Orchestra gets no grant at all so go to see it.
You will enjoy what you hear - and then make a generous donation. It well deserves it.
