Summer in the city and with the sunshine comes incontrovertible proof that the obsession with cultural diversity has finally pushed some citizens too far.
Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company's idea to bestow recognition upon noteworthy figures past and present still provides an occasional talking point but now it has enticed the train spotters away from the platforms to indulge a new passion.
On Saturday afternoon, a pair of corduroy-clad figures stationed themselves on a traffic island at the junction of Marlborough Place and North Road, Brighton, where they proceeded to photograph all buses bearing an inscribed name.
Further bemused investigation revealed another four in the surrounding area, two of whom were even hunkered down with a flask of tea.
What the bus drivers made of this I have no knowledge but the late Douglas Adams would have had a field day.
