As one of many residents who strongly rejected the previous proposals for a residents' parking scheme in Goldsmid, I was pleasantly surprised on viewing the latest plans.
Brighton and Hove City Council has indeed listened to residents' views, made known during and since the previous consultation, and dropped long-term parking for non-residents from the proposals.
I am aware some still want no scheme in the area and are petitioning to that effect, although I don't understand why.
Rather than rejecting this proposal outright, they should be writing to council officers to represent their personal objections directly, as I have done on previous occasions.
In spite of this, I believe the majority of residents, including many such as myself who said no last time, will find the proposed scheme fair and reasonable.
