Kevin Stone had a weekend he will never forget after claiming a clean sweep of victories on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch.

The Peacehaven rider's achievement of four wins in as many races came in the BEMSEE club's Rookie 400 series.

Amazingly, it was the 20-year-old's first time on the Grand Prix circuit and he totally outclassed riders currently above him in the championship.

The haul of 100 points has lifted Stone up to fourth in BEMSEE's nationwide series and he is also third in the southern series.

Stone said: "That is the best weekend I have ever had and I probably won't better it.

"It is so hard to win all four because you only have to make one mistake and that's it but hopefully I might do it again some day."

Stone only returned to the track this season after taking a year out of the sport due to a lack of funds and his achievement is all the more remarkable as he is competing on a borrowed bike.

The Sussex youngster crashed his own bike earlier in the season and has not been able to repair it. However, a man named Dave Harris had spotted his potential and loaned Stone a bike for the rest of the series.

With plans to buy a 600cc bike for a new series next season, Stone was delighted with his display at Brands.

He said: "One of my sponsors was there and he was absolutely thrilled, which is good.

"I knew my sponsors were coming up on the Sunday. I won both races on the Saturday and thought to myself, 'Why couldn't I have done that on the Sunday when they were watching?' but I then went out on the Sunday and won them both again."

Although Stone had a good record at Brands and was hoping to do well, this was his first time on the Grand Prix circuit.

In the first race he came through from eighth on the grid to lead by an amazing ten seconds on lap four. He went on to win that race with a lap time of 1.46.49 but was grateful for some trackside advice.

He explained: "I didn't realise I was that far in front. I was just going for it hell for leather and I almost came off on the last lap. One of the marshals was indicating to me to slow down and I looked round and thought, 'Where is everybody else?' I was that far in front."

Race two was a closer affair but Stone, who enjoys support from Telscombe Tavern, improved his lap times by two seconds to win in 1.44.88.

Sunday morning was overcast with a threat of rain but this did not deter Stone who completed a hat-trick of wins, finishing six seconds ahead of his nearest rival and shaving another second off his time.

The pressure was on as fellow riders did their best to stop Stone taking a clean sweep in the final race of the weekend.

He had dropped back to fourth place with only two laps to go but Stone came back through to pack to take first place on the last lap and increased his lead over the lap before roaring down the start-finish straight to cheers and applause from other riders and marshals lining the track.

Stone added: "It was great. I went into the woods section in third place in that last race and came out of it in first place. My mates said it was special to watch."

All four races were in the nationwide series and Stone added: "I needed the points. I had two seconds and a fourth in France recently, so I have now taken 156 points in the last fortnight.

"Hopefully I will finish higher in the championship, which sets me up nicely for next year."

Stone is back in action at Snetterton next weekend when he hopes to bury a few demons. The Peacehaven ace was knocked unconscious following a crash on his last visit to the circuit.
