Tom Shankly (Letters, July 24) wonders whether we "puritanical" Greens will look for ways to condemn the Pride parade in the same way we criticised Brighton and Hove City Council's response to the aftermath of the Fatboy Slim concert.
We are happy to reassure him the Green Party is an official supporter of Pride, always has a stall at the event and has been for several years the only party with representation on the council to march on the parade as a group to show support for equality. In fact, we believe it is disrespectful to the lesbian and gay community to compare the Fatboy Slim concert with Pride, a peaceful, clean and well-managed festival for our own city's community. More to the point, where were the other political parties on last year's Pride march?
