Angry council bosses in a town badly affected by floods are expected to lobby the Government after it emerged no flood defence improvements are planned.
The Sussex Flood Defence Management Strategy suggests no improved defences along the River Uck from Buxted, through Uckfield, to Isfield.
Uckfield was among Britain's worst-affected spots in the October 2000 floods.
The Environment Agency-led strategy contains suggestions for continued management of existing defences and a flood warning system.
The absence of any specific defence improvements has angered Wealden District Council.
Leader Rupert Thornely-Taylor said: "The agency cannot possibly imagine the communities through which the Uck flows will accept that nothing is to be done."
The agency's recommendations will be considered by the council's Cabinet on August 15.
Coun Thornely-Taylor believes members will protest over the lack of action.
