An incident at a kebab shop where staff were beaten up and threatened with a knife is being treated by police as racially motivated.
The attack took place at the Barnham Pizza and Kebab shop in The Square, Barnham, at about 11.30pm on Monday.
A youth went into the shop earlier in the evening on his own and threatened staff before returning at 11.30pm with three other youths and a woman.
They forced their way in and one jumped over the counter.
He threatened a member of staff with a knife and punched and kicked him.
After the attack, the gang made off towards Barnham railway station.
None of the shop staff required hospital treatment but were badly shaken.
Police said they were working with Arun District Council's community safety unit to prevent further incidents.
They said the matter was being investigated as a racist incident.

Police are also appealing for information after a man was robbed of a small quantity of cash and assaulted by a group of people at a bus stop in West Street, Chichester.
The incident happened at about 3pm on July 24.
