Renovation of a main shopping street has been commended for a second time.
The Institution of Civil Engineers has given the work in George Street, Hove, a merit award.
It goes to Brighton and Hove City Council designers Owen Williams Consultants and contractor Colas Highway Services.
The institution said: "The design is worthy of recognition as an outstanding example of civil engineering practice.
"The pedestrianisation scheme is an excellent example of regeneration in a busy urban environment which has overcome fierce public opposition and delivered real economic and environmental benefits."
Last month the George Street improvements were commended for their high standard and good use of quality products by the Local Government News Street Design Competition.
City council transport councillor Simon Battle said: "It is a tribute to everyone involved with the scheme, from planning to carrying out the work, that the improvements have been acknowledged by two national bodies.
"Since pedestrianisation, air quality has improved and noise pollution has reduced."
The scheme has provided new lighting, seats, street furniture and trees and restaurants and cafes have areas where they can place tables and chairs.
