Horsham have been drawn against relegated pair Reading and Tunbridge Wells in the opening weekend of British League action.
It means a reunion with their former Premier Division team mates, Adrian Moore (Tunbridge Wells) and Nigel Eckersley (Reading).
The Cippenham club at Slough will host the first series of Division 1 matches. Horsham also play against a strong Northampton team.
Horsham have been strengthened by the return of England No.25 veteran Terry Haley.
Skipper Andy Walker said: "To be playing against Adrian and Nigel in the opening matches is a real challenge."
Alan Beames (Patcham), the Sussex secretary, has issued a reminder about the new service rule which comes into force on September 1.
He said: "The ball must be visible to the opponent during the entire service action. The umpire must also be able to see the ball as it is put into play."
