With regard to your article in respect of injuries to people as a result of jumping off the Palace Pier (July 30), it seems to me that as this is a self-inflicted injury, one remedy to protect the public purse, would be to put up large notices to the effect that the cost of treatment for injuries sustained will not be borne free by the NHS but will be recovered from the patient, the adult in charge or a responsible parent, through the civil courts.
