Sussex 2nd XI suffered their third Championship defeat in the last four matches when they lost by an innings and 64 runs to Surrey at Banstead.
Resuming on 46-1 and needing a further 172 to make Surrey bat again, Sussex capitulated and were bowled out for 154 shortly after lunch.
Only opener Bas Zuiderent (25), Brighton & Hove's Stuart Collier (25), Jamie Carpenter (20) and Will House (13) managed double figures as Surrey atoned for their defeat against Sussex a fortnight ago.
Tailenders Collier and coach Mark Robinson (8 not out) did their best to stall the hosts with a last wicket stand of 43 before Collier was stumped off spinner Noel Brett who finished with 4-31.
Medium-pacer Phil Sampson (2-35) supplied the initial thrust by quickly removing Zuiderent and Carpenter.
The ECB have set a precedent by allowing Yorkshire's C&G Trophy semi-final against Surrey to be played tomorrow.
After the three days allocated for the semi-final at Headingley were washed out, the two sides have been given an extra day to settle the tie, although there will be a bowl-out if no play is possible on Sunday.
