Brighton and Hove is the art capital of the South-East. Thousands of jobs are based on the arts in the city and it stages England's biggest festival.
So it's only sensible the new regional arts council should be based in the city rather than in a smaller centre such as Tunbridge Wells.
It doesn't mean all the arts cash will be going to Brighton with other areas in the region neglected.
There will be offices in other locations but the new organisation, a combination of Southern Arts and South East Arts, will be in the right place.
Brighton is a vibrant artistic city with good connections and communications.
Having this organisation there should attract more firms to the city and create more jobs in the arts-based economy.
