Homes could be built on the site of a derelict petrol station in Eastbourne.
The former Murco garage building in Langney Rise has been targeted by developers hoping to build eight three-bedroom terraced houses and provide space for 14 cars.
The site has been empty for more than two years and has been repeatedly attacked by vandals.
The proposal has sparked several letters of protest from residents concerned housing could result in a loss of privacy and add congestion to an already busy road.
A report from head of planning Tim Cookson said the height of the buildings was unlikely to infringe on neighbouring houses.
One of the entrances to the petrol station could be closed to allow a bus stop to be built.
Eastbourne Borough Council's planning and licensing committee will discuss the plan this afternoon at Eastbourne Town Hall.
